Home Visits for Estate Planning

Though we don’t heavily advertise it we will make home visits for estate planning in some cases. These are typically very elderly and/or very sick people who need to get their California estate plan done or updated.  This could be wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, health care directives, and the like.  We typically keep this to the Sacramento valley but recently one of our attorneys made a home visit to Walnut Creek.  In these cases we will “meet” with the client on the phone first to get a gauge on their mental competence as we don’t want to waste our time, or the client’s money, if they don’t seem mentally competent. Once at the home we will insist on being able to meet with the client alone without anybody else in the room; just like we would in our office we need to be able to have one-on-one communications with the client without outside influence.  Contact us if you are bed-ridden or know somebody that is. Maybe we can help you!  -John
