California Property Taxes

Everybody talks about estate taxes, gift taxes, and income taxes in estate planning but it’s important to realize there are other taxes that can sneak up on you.  Most people instantly think of the above mentioned taxes when doing their estate planning in California.  However, an even bigger problem in California estate planning is property taxes.  It’s important to preserve long standing property tax amounts by filing the proper documents at the proper time and making sure that all planning is done with property taxes in mind. Most estate planning work poses no problem for property taxes but it’s important to be mindful of them as a mistake can cause an increase in the property tax bill… and that mistake can keep coming back every year, after year, after year…. It never stops until you sell.
